Arabesque is used by art historians to describe the elements in the decorations of two phases alone: in the Islamic art and the European art.

An apron is a wooden panel which connects the legs to the surface of a table or chair. They are also used at the base of cabinets and chests (aka Skirt).

Apron is an important element in identifying the style and historical period of a furniture. It also serves an important structural role by keeping the legs in constant contact/paralel and also transferring the weight equally to the connected legs.  (Mi)
